Judge Allows Torture Lawsuit Against CACI
As public attention is belatedly turned to the abuses by Blackwater, another private contracting company is under scrutiny, this time for alleged prisoner abuses at Abu Ghraib in Iraq. The company is California Analysis Center, Inc. (CACI). There is strong evidence to suggest that CACI and another contracting company, TITAN, through an employee by the name of John Israel, have had a hand in the techniques used in the "interrogation" of prisoners at Abu Ghraib. Both CACI and TITAN have strong business ties to the Israeli military and all have used similar physical and psychological torture techniques usually seen used on Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody.
Recently, a federal judge allowed a lawsuit to proceed against CACI, for torture crimes by its interrogators. CACI had extensive oversight over its employees during the interrogations.
